(1) Getting to join CNXT means that CNXT’s president has found in you something better than what he possesses.

(1) Getting to join CNXT means that CNXT’s president has found in you something better than what he possesses.

Creators NEXT is a very hard company to get into, and with many people trying to get their foot in the door. The criteria for recruitment that our staff work by is to “look for someone smarter than you are.” We hire high value human resources, not yes-men. In other words, your being hired by us means that we recognize how high your value is. Draw on your abilities and talents to the full here at CNXT to provide better services for our customers.

(2) Information Industry, not Information Technology.

(2) Information Industry, not Information Technology.

“IT” carries with it the idea of an industry that has recently shot to prominence. However, there has never been a period in human history when information has not been necessary. Even back in the Stone Age, there would have been the information that “fire can be used to prevent animals attacking.” What we do here is create the information that is needed for any era. We do our work taking pride in this fact.

(3) Value your customer’s customers.

(3) Value your customer’s customers.

We always tend to think only of our customers, but that’s not actually the right way to do things. When our customers talk with us, they’re thinking about their customers’ customers. This means not only that we need to understand our customers, but also be aware of our own customers’ customers if we want to work on the same level that they do.

(4) People get asked to do a job because they do it better than others.

(4) People get asked to do a job because they do it better than others.

Asking someone to do a job for you is nothing to put on airs about. The person with the money isn’t superior: it’s a fair exchange between money and work. This is why we always need to remember to show respect when asking someone to do a job.

(5) Creating something a little odd.

(5) Creating something a little odd.

We create customized websites. This means we need to be experts in design and the very latest web technologies. Take a look to see if you can incorporate something of the latest fun technology that’s come out. Yet, don’t take the technology as your starting point. The most important thing is to respect your customer’s wishes. This means you need to think about creating something that’s a little bit different, that’s never been seen before, even if it isn’t revolutionary.

(6) Creating systems together, not websites.

(6) Creating systems together, not websites.

We are not here to make websites. We are here to create the optimal systems for our customers. Approach your job conscious of the need to listen carefully to what the customer has to say, to extract the elements, and to create a system that will keep the customer happy on an ongoing basis.

What we might think is good is not what our customers might think is good. And sometimes, between the two points of view is where the seeds of new systems lie. So rather than pushing our ways of doing things, and rather than doing everything the customer says, try creating a system together.

(7) Meetings should be efficient and with the minimum number of people.

(7) Meetings should be efficient and with the minimum number of people.

There are far too many wasteful meetings in Japan. There are even meetings to set up meetings. But as a venture corporation, we don’t have that kind of time. Our meetings need to come up with decisions from the minimum number of people, and produce ideas.

Neither do we have any time for meetings held to assign blame. Making do with mediocre plans because you fear making mistakes is a case of getting your priorities backwards. The phrase “hate the bug, not the person” means we need to tackle challenges boldly, without overly fearing mistakes.

(8) Maximum results in limited time.

(8) Maximum results in limited time.

Our time is limited. That means speed is important in order to produce significant results within this limited time.

Get into the habit of considering how you could work more efficiently in all tasks. Then share what you have discovered. Even a small discovery can become a major contribution to the company.

(9) Expand your ideas, and reduce them to numbers at the end.

(9) Expand your ideas, and reduce them to numbers at the end.

We live in a field defined by economics. The only proof of trust the world recognizes is how much more we have sold. To earn the trust of all the other companies, we need to keep improving our sales. So try to approach things so that, in the end, even in discussions with customers, everything can be talked about in terms of numbers. Aim to be able to talk clearly and crisply with customers about such things as how and why their sales can be improved, and how much in promotion costs will give rise to how much in expected profits.

(10)High-five your customers.

(10)High-five your customers.

Once your customer is really impressed with you, and you’ve created a system together, then you can high-five each other. Both sides can express their pleasure and mutual respect straight from the heart. That’s the sort of work result we want to achieve.
